Spider-Man 3 Continues to Dominate the Box Office

Last week Spider-Man 3 crushed the previous record for an opening weekend gross at the box office with a massive $151 million. This week, Spider-Man continued to keep audiences tangled in his web, taking in another $60 million. While the film slowed down a bit from its momentous arrival, Spider-Man 3 still swung past all expectations. The Web-Head blew away the closest competition, 28 Weeks Later which took in $10 million, to keep his spot at the top. Spidey finished the weekend with a domestic total of $242 million and according to Variety, topped $622 million world wide.

With Ghost Rider being a huge success, and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer on the horizon, Marvel movies keep getting more and more attention. Right now it would seem the sky's the limit. Based on the past success of these movies, and with Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk in production right now, it would appear that Marvel characters will remain a dominant force in theaters for quite some time.

Visit the official Marvel.com Spider-Man hub for wallpapers, screen savers, buddy icons and everything you ever wanted to know/see/hear/watch about the web-head, including the origin of Venom and the black costume and a 7.5 minute long movie preview.

There's the Spider-Man 3 movie blog for you to get your fix on behind-the-scenes videos. See Sam Raimi, Ted Raimi, Bruce Campbell and many others talk about the film, and see an exclusive look at what goes on in the the special effects trailers.
