Scenes from a Retreat 1
2008-08-06 11:39:43
We held one of our creative summits last week, and I was there to capture the action on video. So here's part one of a look at the sort of thing that goes on at these meetings, shot by a man who has no business being in front of or behind a camera.

More later.

Tom B

Ahhhhh....
So Bendis doesn't like being on cam eh?

Thanks for sharing the clips Brevoort!

Drama. Pure Drama.

I love the first one, outside the DC office. You sound seriously maniacal in it, Tom.

We love you too, Mr. Brevoort!

Top notch film-making
I wonder if that was the kind of indifferent atmosphere that was circulating when you though OMD/BND was the way to go.

You can send She-Hulk over to rip up all of my X-men if you want but you won't stop me from complaining (as long as there is a platform for it) about the surgical incision into the artery of Marvel Comics that is ASM. You can stop the bleeding any time. I'd settle for some ridiculous concept, likely a deal with a demon like character (if not the devil) that could wipe out the last 9 months or so.

By the way, where's Liz Allen and lil Normie Osborn, is Harry the kind of guy that's picking up his kid on the weekends in his Convertible with that lame earring to seem young and hip again or maybe he can make a deal with a demon of sorts rewinding the clock and undoing the birth of his son (if that hasn't already happened) I just don't know.

JRJR to right the ship in 2008 and beyond.

To the Guys who are currently in charge of Marvel who will eventually hand it over to a new generation that may or may not wipe your names out of the history books (possibly by making a deal with some sort of demon)

Make Mine Again Marvel

Thanks, Tom, it's always great to get a peek behind the curtain.

I'm wondering if you have someone film, or record, the whole retreat? If so it would be fantastic if you could post some clips from past summits. I'm not fishing for spoilers but I'd love to see how you came up with certain ideas and what was discarded along the way.

I gotta say... I'm so tired of hearing people complain about Spider-Man...

I mean... really? Rude...

Yeah, they should stop, at least when the topic is not even related to Spider-man

I agree with Fetsur and Bigdaddyhub2, each monologue about DC from you makes me think each time to the doctor Helmer from the original 'Kingdom' by Lars Von Trier.
Looks like you need to share with the world your anger and threats ( I know this feeling you know, I was same as you some years ago ) so much that it became suspect.
From a latest review of you, I thimnk there is a lot of DC titles ( Doom Patrol archives , Seven Soldiers of Victory archives... ), is that part of the 'know-your-enemy-strategy', or is there something behind it. In another review you also said ( quoting : 'these DC people are after all people like us ' ), so...
Tom, what's the matter ?
Are you leaving ?

Stop the Bleeding?
@ coolhanddave

Seriously--- you're kidding, right? BND is selling far and away better than the combined 3 titles that were folded up preceding it. And it's a great read!

I wasn't thrilled about the Mephisto story either, but at this point--- just relax and roll with it. It's pretty standard comics practice anyway: if you don't like what they're doing now, wait a minute or two.

Or just, y'know--- don't read the books and be okay with your decision.

Wish I could go to my summits dressed like that. Hell, I wish I had not to wear a tie!

"Tom's really joining the twenty-first century."

Hahaha!

At Least we know Bendis is dedicate!!
As an aspiring writer, it is very interesting to see the inside of some of the marvel stuff. It is really something that you bring to your blog, and I think it is very cool.

Who so serious?
Some people take way too much offense to the playful banter Joe and Tom do about DC.

Thats really all it is, "playful". Tom isn't saying stuff like that under the asumption thats it's going to piss people off becuase they should know it's all in good fun.

I know some fans would prefer they dance around ring of roses and have Dan Dido and Joe Quesada make out but thats not really the spirit of competition.
